MFG02 Electric Discharge Machining (EDM), Theory and Applications
This is a unique training course on Electric Discharge Machining (EDM; Electric Erosion/Spark Erosion). The course will start by discussing fundamental physics behind E. D. Machining and cover all engineering concepts that may effect the engineering features of the process. The course contents fundamentally lead to description of machining parameters as related to engineering EDM. All effective parameters like; tool and workpiece material properties, dielectric liquid and fluidic properties, electrical operation parameters and machine tool operation parameters will be discussed in detail independent of m/c Tool company. Workpiece material selection, tool selection and tool design, dielectric fluid selection and setting operational parameters will be discussed in detail. Fundamental concepts will be applied to trainer specified m/c tools of different commercial names. All variations of EDM process like; Wire EDM, Micro EDM, Disintegrators and similiar processes will be covered.
